Below is a savory and spicy green smoothie that we’ve been enjoying as an afternoon snack. Think pre-trick-or-treating snack for you and your kiddos.
Tis the season that we’re faced with tough decisions. Do we indulge our sweet tooth at every turn or is it possible to fill our tanks with something good, hydrating, alkalizing and nutritious, and actually stave off awakening the sugary beast?

Pumpkin Spice Green Smoothie
Yields 1 quart
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla-flavored almond milk
- 1 cup filtered water
- 1 cup plain organic canned pumpkin (unsweetened) (or fresh pumpkin)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. allspice
- 1-inch fresh ginger
- 2 cups spinach
Directions:
In a high-speed blender, combine almond milk, water, pumpkin, banana, mango, spices, and spinach until creamy.
