Meat Lover’s Sample Meal Plan

My husband celebrated a birthday a few weeks ago and one of my gifts to him was the Conscious Cleanse (how generous of me!) – and more specifically to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for him for two weeks (a big freakin’ commitment, even for me!).

Meat Lovers Meal Plan by Conscious CleanseWhat follows is the exact meal plan that we created together knowing that we’re both working parents while accounting for his likes and dislikes (and those of our two young boys to boot). Although cooking three meals a day is a major commitment, what I’ve found is that it’s all in the planning. You gotta make a plan and then work the plan and be willing to be flexible as real life situations come up.

My man is a meat lover known for the saying “salad is what dinner eats.” He’s also the first to admit that when it comes to food, he’s lazy. He’s the type of guy that could go all day and forget to eat (who does that?) only to realize at 3pm that he’s bonking, in which case he’ll grab whatever is quick and easy. Suffice to say, this week he’s eaten more food than he normally does (but the right kind of food!) and has been very satisfied (and not hungry). I even got a text from him that said (and I quote), “I have felt like I’m buzzed all day. I wonder if I’m detoxing and retoxing at the same time? ☺”

Is there someone in your life that you’d like to help get healthier? Maybe that someone is you! If you’re a meat eater or cook for someone who is, check out our sample meal plan below. And be sure to leave me a comment. Does this plan feel doable in your crazy busy life?

With love and more love,

Meat Lover’s Sample Meal Plan

On Sunday I made a large batch of Balsamic Vinaigrette (in our book pg. 249) using fresh herbs that were leftover from the Turkey Meatball recipe below. We packed this in a mason jar that Digger took to work (and kept in the fridge there) and used on salads most of the week.

We also made a version of the Hearty Smoothie Love often adding chia seeds (I wanted to make sure he was filled up and not hungry) and sometimes substituting cherries for blueberries, coconut water for almond milk, and rotating greens like kale and Swiss chard in addition to spinach.

Sunday

Monday

  • Breakfast: Green smoothie (coconut water, mango, banana, chia seed)
  • Lunch: Salad with spinach, cucumber and olives with leftover meatballs and chimichurri sauce
  • Snack: Apple
  • Dinner: Curried Carrot Soup served with quinoa

Tuesday

  • Breakfast: Green Smoothie
  • Snack: Apple
  • Lunch: Salad with spinach, arugula, garden peas, radishes and Basic Baked Chicken Breast (recipe in our book pg. 282)
  • Snack: Handful of nuts
  • Dinner: Broiled Ginger Salmon (in our book pg. 283) with Garlic Caesar Salad and steamed broccoli

Wednesday

  • Breakfast: Green Smoothie
  • Snack: Apple
  • Lunch: Turkey Lettuce Wraps (in our book pg. 285)
  • Dinner: Leftovers Night – Salmon, chicken breast and Citrus Burst Broccoli (in our book pg. 270)

Thursday

  • Breakfast: Green Smoothie
  • Snack: Handful of nuts
  • Lunch: Turkey Lettuce Wraps (leftover from yesterday)
  • Dinner: Quinoa Beet Arugula Salad and steamed asparagus

Friday

  • Breakfast: Green Smoothie
  • Snack: Apple
  • Lunch: Spinach salad topped with beets and asparagus and a piece of baked salmon
  • Dinner: My plan was to make the Bunless Bison Burger with Roasted Curried Cauliflower but Digger actually ended up eating out. He successfully navigated the buffet bar by ordering a large green salad and plain chicken breast, asking for olive oil and balsamic vinegar as the dressing.

Saturday

  • Breakfast: Green Smoothie
  • Lunch: Hearty Vegetable Soup (lots leftover for next week’s lunch)
  • Dinner: Sweet ‘n’ Spicy Pull Apart Chicken with a shredded purple cabbage, cilantro, cucumber and lime salad.

Yum. Some really great ideas. I have my hubs doing a partial cleanse simply because he travels the world extensively. He’s enjoyed everything I’ve cooked for him so far especially the joy balls and the raw buckwheat bar that he takes with him on his travels. We both love being a lot cleaner.

Thanks Jules! I’m preparing to start my first cleanse, but have a quick question. Is the Turkey Meatballs with Zucchini Noodles and Chimichurri Sauce cleanse friendly? For some reason I thought I couldn’t consume honey. Thanks!

    • Jules Peláez

Yes it is cleanse friendly. Honey and other sweeteners in moderation. :)
