This weekend after menu planning, grocery list making, and two different grocery store runs, I came home on Sunday afternoon only to realize that in spite of all my best efforts, I STILL forgot bananas!
How it is even possible that I could forget to purchase one of my favorite foods of all time is beside the point. The real issue is that we’ve all been there. It happens to me at least once or twice a week. You know the drill – you’re all excited to try out a new recipe or be Wonder Mom and actually have anything planned at all, but when you open the fridge or the kitchen cupboard at 5pm, you realize you’re missing a key ingredient.
You know we’re generally huge fans of finding replacements and getting creative whenever possible. Don’t have limes? Try lemons instead! Fresh out of cilantro? Sub it out for parsley! No big deal.
This works a lot of the time, but there are some occasions that this methodology simply won’t fly. Last week I forgot to buy onions and since our Curried Carrot Soup won’t work so well without one of the three ingredients, I had to go back to the store.
So, I threw the kids into the car, drove less than a half mile to the grocery store, and over an hour later I immerged from the grocery store battered but still alive, with my onion, and a bunch of other stuff I had to bribe my kids with in order to make it through the store , not to mention two cranky and hungry children!
Sound familiar?
Sounds like a nightmare – one that I do not wish to have ever again!
Well my friends, I’m happy to say that those days are O-V-E-R!
Meet our new friend – INSTACART!
I am so over the top in love with this new online grocery delivery service that I could just kiss someone. I’ve used it a handful of times this past week and it’s pure delight to hear the doorbell ring only to find a friendly older gentleman handing me a bright green bag of all the items I forgot.
I wonder if he knows just how happy he’s making moms like me all over our community?
The best part is that the delivery charges are not unreasonable. Of course, there is a cost of convenience, but I’ll tell you, if spending $3.99 keeps me out of the grocery store with cranky kids, it’s actually saving me money. Not to mention peace of mind, which is of course – priceless.
If you want to experience this joy and insta-gratificiation of having your groceries delivered to your doorstep in under an hour, then please visit Instacart.com and redeem the coupon code CONSCIOUSCLEANSE for two months of free delivery.
Instacart isn’t in every state yet, but be sure to visit their website and enter your zip code so they know what market to open next.
Try it out for yourself and please leave me a comment below. I want to know what this delightful service is doing to help you experience more ease because healthy eating should be fun and joyful.
With love and insta-gratification,
Thanks so much for this code. I’ve been wanting to try Instacart, but was saving my ‘first free delivery’ for when I really, really needed it.
A couple of questions:
is it shareable? If so I will pass it on to a neighbor who already uses it, and a relative who does not but really needs delivery service.
And apropos of that, for the neighbor – do you have to be a NEW customer (having never used it before) to use the code and get the 2 free months?
Do you know if it can be used everywhere that Instacart is operating in the U.S.?
Finally, do you get unlimited deliveries for those two months, or is it limited to a certain number, such as one per week?
Again, thanks so much!
Hi Jules,

Is this code only for new users? I am getting the message “invalid code”. Thanks! I am also a huge fan of Instacart!
It should work for you Meredith even if you’re already their customer. We’ll double check with Instacart and let you know ASAP!
Just tried it today and Instacart ROCKS!!! Saves so much time for my Sunday cooking for the week. Thanks for the tip and the code!
