These days, spring is one of my favorite seasons. What’s not to love, with longer days, blooming trees, and the return of sunshine? But the thing is, as much as I look forward to it now, I used to dread it.
Why? Because seasonal allergies used to hit me hard.
We’re talking itchy eyes, brain fog, nonstop sneezing, and that heavy, congested feeling that made me want to crawl back into bed instead of enjoy the outdoors. Sound familiar?
If you’ve ever felt like your body is at war with the very season you want to enjoy, I get it. And I want you to know you don’t have to suffer—there are natural solutions to help you feel better fast!
Over the years, I’ve found easy and effective remedies that have dramatically reduced my allergy symptoms. These tools come straight from my own experience (and from the thousands of people we’ve worked with through the Conscious Cleanse!), and I’m excited to share them with you.
Are you ready to enjoy spring again?
Here are my favorite natural remedies to ease seasonal allergies.
1. Clear Out the Culprits
Start by minimizing your allergen exposure:
- Take off your shoes at the door
- Shower and wash your hair before bed
- Use a HEPA air filter in your bedroom
- Wipe down pets who’ve been outside
Sometimes the best remedy is removing what’s irritating your system in the first place. This was a game changer for me.
2. Try a Natural Antihistamine
Nature can support you when your histamines go haywire.
Try:
- Stinging nettle tea or capsules – a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory
- Quercetin – a plant compound found in onions and apples that helps stabilize mast cells
- Local raw honey – eating small amounts (about a teaspoon) every day can help your body adapt to local pollen over time
I start these early in the season to reduce the severity of my symptoms before they even start.
3. Support Your Detox Pathways
Your liver and lymphatic system work overtime during allergy season.
Keep things moving with:
- Warm lemon water in the morning
- Dry brushing to stimulate lymph flow
- Dandelion tea to support liver function
When I’m supporting my detox pathways, everything else feels easier—especially my immune response.
4. Rinse Your Sinuses
This one might sound a little odd if you’ve never tried it, but I swear by it!
A daily nasal rinse helps flush out pollen, dust, and other allergens before they trigger symptoms:
- Use a neti pot or saline spray to gently rinse your sinuses
- Always use distilled or sterilized water (never tap!)
- Follow with a drop of sesame or coconut oil in each nostril to soothe and protect
Doing this consistently helps me breathe easier and feel less congested throughout the day.
5. Strengthen Your Gut
About 70% of your immune system lives in your gut—which means gut health and allergies are more connected than we realize.
I’ve noticed a huge difference in my body’s response to seasonal triggers when my digestion is strong and balanced.
Try:
- Eating plenty of fiber-rich vegetables (think: leafy greens, broccoli, and artichokes)
- Including fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, or coconut yogurt
- Taking a high-quality probiotic or prebiotic during allergy season
6. Hydrate Like Your Life Depends On It
This one’s easy to overlook, but it’s so important. When you’re dehydrated, your body produces more histamine, which can make your allergy symptoms worse.
Staying hydrated helps thin mucus, flush allergens, and reduce inflammation.
Try:
- Drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of filtered water daily
- Adding cucumber, lemon, or mint to keep things fresh
- Sipping on herbal teas like ginger, nettle, or peppermint throughout the day
I carry a water bottle with me everywhere during spring, and my sinuses thank me.
The Bottom Line
Seasonal allergies used to knock me down every year. But with the right support, I’ve discovered that my body doesn’t have to overreact the way it used to. These remedies are simple, natural, and effective. And they’ve made a huge difference in how I feel each spring.
If you’re struggling right now, start small. Pick one or two of these strategies and see how your body responds. You deserve to enjoy this season—clear-headed, energized, and allergy-free!
Happy Spring!
