Tackle St. Patrick’s Day the Conscious Cleanse Way

St. Patrick’s Day can be a wild party, which makes it the perfect time to pull out your 80:20 card.

Conscious Cleanse 8020 Alcohol GuideGive yourself guilt-free permission to enjoy a few drinks out on the town without feeling green this St. Patty’s day by adhering to our Conscious Cleanse Approved 80:20 Alcohol Guide below.

If you’ve done the Conscious Cleanse it’s likely that you’re versed in what food makes you look and feel the best. But what does a girl drink to not feel like a train wreck the next day?

As always, we encourage you to think ahead and have a plan. Think about what alcoholic beverage you’d like to enjoy before moseying up to the bar, and then consider your body and its response.

Ask yourself: How will this drink make me feel (besides a nice buzz)? Will beer make me bloated and gassy? Does red wine give me a headache? And are you okay dealing with that for the next couple of days?

I am not a big drinker, nor am I Irish, but when it comes to shamrockin’ the night away, one of my favorite “Conscious Cocktails” is a coin style margarita (Olé!). All you need is a good quality tequila (see below), lime juice, salt, a few drops of stevia, and ice for a very allergen-friendly drink that does the trick without the hangover.

If tequila is not your thing, no problemo! Enjoy one of the many types of liquor listed below based on your sensitivity to gluten, grains, yeast, and/or corn. Just be sure not to add a bunch of artificial fruit juices or sugary syrups to whatever you choose. Keep it really neat and clean. White wine can also be a very easy choice if you’re not sensitive to yeast.

Before you go out, consciously decide which drinks work best in your body and go ahead and have fun “swallyin’” with your friends! Remember to always drink moderately and follow each alcoholic beverage with a tall glass of water.

Now I’d love to hear from you! Is this guide helpful? What is your favorite Conscious Cocktail?

May the luck of the Irish enfold you,

I read that all distilled spirits are gluten free from the process. Is this correct ? I read it in a book about gluten allergies as well as being told from someone I know who works for Beam Suntory.

Distilled alcohols should technically be gluten free from research I’ve seen, but if
your allergy is extreme then it’s probably best to avoid it to be on the safe side. I hope that helps.

My favorite drink is Ciroc pineapple with coconut Lacroix. Tastes just like a pina colada!
